Inspiration

Driving across Karnataka during the **monsoon**, you pass entire fields staged for temple festivals — marigold heads spread on tarps to dry, arranged in grids by the women sorting them. I never forgot how much the order amplified the chroma; a single marigold is bright, a thousand marigolds in a grid are deafening. This tapestry is my attempt to keep some of that volume on a wall.

Notes on making

Plain weave on a 16-shaft floor loom. The yellow circles are tufted by hand after weaving; the green squares are inlaid weft floats. Twelve hours of weaving plus another seven to tuft.
