My friend Priya had a baby in March and I wanted to make her something she'd actually use. Quilts solve a real problem: they get spit-up on, washed, dragged across floors, and they keep working anyway. The grid is the simplest pattern to forgive a beginner's hand, and the X on every square is just to make sure no one mistakes it for store-bought.
Notes on making
Each square is 30 cm. The X is a hand-running stitch through three layers — top, batting, backing. Took two weekends of evenings.
